Most Member States have put in place high minimum qualification
requirements and well developed vocational training or certification
systems to enable mechanical contractors to install safe
and efficient building systems. In the light of increasing
requirements and new technological developments, these systems
need to be maintained and strengthened.
On the other hand, Europe guarantees the free movement of
operatives mainly through the directive on services in the
internal market and the directive on the recognition of professional
qualifications.
GCI-UICP is committed to striking the balance between highest
quality levels of technical building installations on the
one hand, and the free movement of mechanical contractors
on the other. To achieve this, GCI-UICP develops, together
with the European gas distributors' organisation MARCOGAZ,
a matrix comparing national qualification / certification
systems and benchmarking them against minimum requirements.
